Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program

Community Action Program, Inc. of Western Indiana (CAPWI) will be offering a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program starting in mid-January 2015.  The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $53,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.  IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

The program starts mid-January and runs through mid-April, 2015.  It is being offered on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 4:30 to 7:00 pm, and every other Saturday starting January 31, at our Covington office location.

This service is also being offered Tuesday evenings from 4:30 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:30 pm, and every other Saturday morning from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon starting on February 7th, at our Clinton office.

This is an excellent service being offered to help families to save more money at tax time by not having to pay preparation fees and rapid refund expenses.  This savings could be used to help offset household expenses that are higher at this time of year.
