Community Action Program, Inc. of Western Indiana (CAPWI) is proud to offer the Joan E. Cline Scholarship to graduating high school seniors. Established in 2005 in memory of Joan E. Cline, CAPWI’s Executive Director from 1970 to 2004, this scholarship honors her legacy of supporting young individuals in achieving their educational and career goals.
Eligibility:
Must reside in CAPWI’s service area: Benton, Fountain, Montgomery, Parke, Vermillion, or Warren counties
Must be enrolled in an accredited institution for at least 12 credit hours (or full-time equivalent)
Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA
Preference given to applicants from low-to-moderate income families
Application Deadline: March 2 (by close of business)
Announcement of Recipient: April 3

Congratulations!!
The 2024 scholarship winner is Caedence Brown, a student attending Crawfordsville High School. From her reference letters, comments such as ‘Caedence is dependable, trustworthy, and responsible. She is outgoing, a compassionate leader, and well-respected by her peers’ as well as being ‘persistent, resilient, and having a great sense of ambition’ were used to describe her personally and academically.
Caedence holds a cumulative GPA of 4.3824 and is ranked 2nd in a class of 149. She is very involved in extracurricular activities and volunteer work. She plans to attend the University of Notre Dame, majoring in political science/Spanish.
We look forward to watching Caedence achieve her educational goals and are proud to be a part of that journey.
