Environmental Protection Agency Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Certification Training is available now!
Do you know of any contractors who need to be RRP certified? The EPA Federal Law went into effect on April 22, 2010 requiring all contractors whose work disturbs painted surfaces be certified. The fines for violating this Federal law are HUGE- up to $37,500 per violation. Contractors can contact Randy Burnette @ (765) 793-4881 for more information on the one-day certification process.
An RRP Certification training is scheduled for August 31 at the Community Action Program office in Covington from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Call Randy Burnette for more information and/or to register for the training.

Early Head Start Expands Services in Fountain and Vermillion Counties
Early Head Start received an expansion grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Head Start. In addition to their current services they will be adding a caseload of 12 children to expand services in Fountain and Vermillion counties. The grant will also allow Early Head Start to offer full-day/full-year childcare services for children 18 to 36 months of age at the Montgomery county location. The Montgomery toddler classroom will provide services for eight children. Early Head Start provides a variety of services to low income families including; weekly home visits, parenting tips, connection to community services, services for children with disabilities, fun family activities, children’s play groups, health information, and information about pregnancy. Head Start is currently accepting applications for the 2010-2011-program year. Family incomes must be at or below 100% of the federal poverty level. Children must be three prior to August 1 to be eligible for Head Start. The program accepts children with disabilities. Families will need to provide income verification for the prior 12 months or calendar year (W2, pay stubs, etc.), copies of the child's official birth certificate, child's immunization records, child's social security number, child's Hoosier Healthwise number (if applicable) and guardianship or name change documentation (if applicable). Joan Cline Scholarship
CAPWI is once again offering the Joan Cline Scholarship to graduating high school students. The scholarship is rotated annually through our six county service area. This year we are focusing our efforts on students in Parke and Vermillion counties. Preference will be given to low/moderate income families. Low/moderate is defined as 80% of the Area Median Income. Scholarships will be provided for 4 year, 2 yr, or Trade Association degrees to graduating seniors. Scholarships will be $1,000 for each year they attend higher education up to a maximum of 4 years. They must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours or full time equivalency. They must carry a 2.5 grade point average to be eligible to receive the award for the next year. Applicants that have a relationship to a CAPWI employee or Board Member are eligible to apply. Completed applications must be received by CAPWI by the close of business on March 15. The recipient will be announced on April 15.
