WorkOne Youth Services
The WorkOne Center in Lafayette is also the home office of our expanding Youth Services Program. The WorkOne Center serves the needs of Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth program participants in our eight-county area. Our services focus on four priority areas:
- Continuation of the Choice Determines Destiny scholarship program
- Expanding services to out-of-school youth
- Establishing an in-school Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) program Click here of the JAG newsletter.
- Developing a project in partnership with Purdue University which emphasizes/introduces students to the importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) skills and how they are useful in the workplace.
Our scholarship project is a prime example of the increased demand for services. One-hundred and six students completed last year's project and received a scholarship to help them transition to post-secondary education compared to seventy-three students the year before.
Young Hoosier Conservation Corps (YHCC) is supported with the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) funding. In our service area are Prophetstown State Park in Lafayette and Shades State Park in Waveland. Click here to Visit the YHCC web page.
