Winter Assistance

Energy Assistance Program (EAP)

This program assists low-income families with the high costs of home energy. Income-eligible families are provided a one-time benefit to their heating and electric companies to offset the high cost of utility bills during the winter months. Income eligibility is 150% of the poverty guidelines. The benefit will average $100 for electric and about $200 for your heating bill (these are average benefits and could vary according to your individual situation). EAP runs from October 5 through May 14. Interested families should contact their local Community Action Program, Inc. of Western Indiana office for more information. Click here for "locations".
